Dr. Barry Taylor is a 1981 graduate of the University of Connecticut, the same year that he joined the Association of Veterinarians for Animal Rights (AVAR) and adopted a vegan lifestyle. In 1985 he earned his DVM from Purdue University and returned to Connecticut to practice small animal medicine.
In 1989 Dr. Taylor moved to New Hampshire and established his own practice, the Franklin Veterinary Clinic, so that he could practice by his own rules, i.e. no declaws or cosmetic surgeries, no birds or exotic "pets", etc. The next year he became veterinary adviser to the NH Animal Rights League, a position that he holds to this day.
He is launching International Veterinary Professionals for Animal Rights, a group for veterinary workers worldwide to express their concerns regarding animal rights and the veterinary profession.
Dr. Taylor lives with his vegan wife and vegan dog in Hill, New Hampshire, and in his spare time he is a musician, actor, and writer.
